I'm using FB 1.0.5RC1 and Joomla 1.5.7

Threaded view is useless with this kind of forum:

Try to change "Viestiketju näkymä" (Threaded view) and see it by yourself. The page is useless.

Here is some statistics:
- 64MB of PHP memory is not enough
- MySQL query is huge and slow and will not be cached
- Page takes about minute to load
- Firefox 3.0 eats about 200MB of memory during page load
- Try to scroll down. How long do you think that user will keep using this forum?
- PS. there are 4453 messages in this page

So the threaded view should change before 1.0.5 Final.

First I'm not sure if threaded view is useful in category level. Is there any way to switch it off? I didn't find it.

Second there should be a pager in huge topics. I think that even 100 messages in one page is too much.

mmm, you're using any default_ex modification? because default_ex in FB package is not the one you're using... between categories and new post shows my messages, that may appear, as I'm not logged on your site, but there is no thread view tab - new messages - my new messages - categories - rules - help

Anyway, I don't quite understand your problem... if threaded view isn't useful for your site... don't use it. I agree is not pretty useful, but for some people it may be...

I changed the site language to English for a while. I hope that it helps to solve this problem.

I'm currently using default_ex without any modifications. "My posts" shows up only when you're signed in. Public registeration is allowed, so you may register and log in if you wish.

Threaded view would be useful, but it's just not working with huge topics. There are too many messages in one page -- especially in category view.

See my problem here? I hate huge topics, but they were a compromise with the old forum software.

In the mean time: how do I disable threaded view? I didn't find any option to do that.

There is also another unrelated question: how do I make category view as default instead of recent discussions? My users would like to use recent discussions view, but don't like it to be the default option.

Ok, I didn't quite understand the problem and is that you want to fully disable threaded view, am I correct? I believe fully disable is not possible (unless modifiing files) but you can modify the template files to delete the threaded view tab.

For category as default, this is a template issue, not fireboard, you could edit the template files, or either, link directly to it from your joomla

instead of: testi.herppi.net/keskustelu, use testi.herppi.net/keskustelu?func=listcat. If you don't like it showing the func=listcat, you can create a menu alias

The problem is not a bug in the traditional sense, it's more a usability issue.

As you may have been noticed by clicking the last url, there were almost 4500 messages in that page. It's way too much for my users, they would like to have a pager with only 50-100 messages in one page.

Another feature request is to disable threaded view from category view (individual forum), but still have it in the message view (thread).

Template issue should also be easy to fix with a configuration option.

So in short, these features would be nice:
* A pager in the threaded view (configurable size)
* Admin option to disable threaded view separately both in categories and in messages
* Admin option to change default view/function between latest posts, my posts and category list.

Could you please send my requests forward? Second and third feature request should be easy to implement.

Already done, your last request is already done in FB1.0.5RC2

Is there any way to get the second request also to the next RC? It's more important to me than the third one (or I can just remove the threaded view from the templates).
