First, width depends on your Joomla-template.
Second, disable showing modules on FP-page, so it will be displayed fullwidth of your template.

Menu>New>Component-Link. Fill out information. Select \"New Window With/Without Browser Navigation\". See if that works.

You need to go in the backend of the site under the module manager and select each of the modules which are showing up on your template when you viewing your forum and make their view options to not include when the forum link is being used.
You may have issues with your template as some templates don\'t allow different modules to be hidden at all (most often the \'left\' position). In that case you\'ll have to edit your template to make the problem positions optional.

New Window With/Without Browser Navigation
i dont want a new window (this maintains the left menus)
(means, the same result of the picture but in a popup window)
argg i must edit the template??
the right question are:

Possibly

It looks like you\'ve got your modules showing up correctly (as in not at all). It means the template you are using doesn\'t collapse the left column at all.

By the looks of it none of the default ones are. There are ones at the various template clubs which do have removable left columns. Otherwise it\'s usually very easy to edit the template to get rid of the left column.

search for one of aha-68 ... his templates have good coded modules and they will be removed after disabling modules at this position...

I don\'t know if you ever found a solution but this worked for me when I had exactly the same problem - http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,224687.msg1041708.html#msg1041708
