Hi, I'd like to upgrade from 1.0.0, I have downloaded the files but can you please tell me where to find the sql file please? Thanks.

Due to an oversight the SQL file is actually to be found in the 1.0.3 download.

For upgrade questions and related SQL issues please check the wiki! The description and links to the files are there. No need to get the 1.0.3 package.

Thx!

I'll agree with a few comments about not upgrading, and I don't think Ironside was out of line in asking what he did, or taking issue with the level of hassle involved with upgrading. The instructions, in the same wiki being cited, leave me scratching my head.

Example: On item 6, "The final structure should look like this:" doesn't show what the structure should be, nor provides either a link or graphic.

Item 8, "If necessary, rename all the “jos_” occurrences to your own database prefix. Hence, if your db prefix it “boj_” then you should rename all “jos_” to “boj_”." How am I supposed to know if it is necessary? And do I rename every single table in the database, or just those related to Fireboard? And do I change them back after the upgrade?

Item 9, "Execute the queries on your remote host; either inside phpmyadmin or your favourite database manager. . ." What queries? And what result should be displayed if they run correctly? What are the queries doing?

". . . If you get any error during the execution, e.g. you had done some modifications to the database before, then you should execute the rest of the queries and not all of them. . . " The rest and not all of them? So if I get an error I should skip that one and move on? Or skip down a few and keep going?

I appreciate the time and effort going into project, it truly is the best of breed. In another few generations I'm sure many of the rougher points of using it, upgrading it, and otherwise, should be worked out of the system. But its not as accessible to people new to Fireboard who expect a stable release to mean many of the glitches and such shouldn't exist.

NWLB,

Are you offering to help make the wiki better?

Or just stating the obvious?

I am happy to walk you through the process myself if you would be willing to write it in terms everybody can understand, if not, I am not sure how we can help you.

I can't offer to make the wiki better if I can't even figure out the answers to the points I noted above. At the moment, with 8 Joomla installs, all using CB and FB, I am actually taking notes as I go through this. I'm not certain that the upgrade path on the wiki, beyond the more technically minded, is going to prove the best route to go.

What I'm working on right now is simply a clean install, and seeing if I can bring the posts into the board. Since I use CB for avatars, profiles, sigs, and everything else, I'm not Dependant on the FB registration and other things.

If I come up with something better, or have to slog my way through the manual upgrade path, I'll certainly be happy to translate my notes to whomever wants them.

Question though, as I've had good luck doing a clean install, and getting the categories to carry over. I did an import of all FB tables, no issues, the various plugins and such are all working. Good stuff.

But I'm working on seeing if I can get the messages imported, which didn't carry over. Is that what the SQL queries are about, as mentioned in the upgrade instructions?

As for improving the wiki, I'd suggest line eight, "If necessary, rename all the “jos_” occurrences to your own database prefix. Hence, if your db prefix it “boj_” then you should rename all “jos_” to “boj_”." should be rewritten to, "Joomla, by default uses the prefix "jos." If you use your own prefix, IE: "boj" you will need to change prefixes after running the queries, as they will use the default.

Now there seems to be another problem with your site as one of the WIndows Firefox browsers is also destroying your page header. Can you confirm? I wonder if this is a conflict between the site template and the board.

Hi

I can confirm that firefox 2.0.0.9 on XP did not have any missing header issue (back when I was on 2.0.0.9), but I have not got Win2K/FF 2.0.0.9 anywhere to check. Can likely take a look in the new year at work.

An earlier poster running IE7/XP said that they *could* see the scroll bar issue... while viewing my site --> an issue which browsershots does not see.

I have a big problem after upgrading from 1.03, the back end works fine and the front end looks ok until you click on a topic or category and then you just get a blank page with this at the top:

I've tried re-uploading the files, checked template files (default) and even resorted to a clean installation of 1.04 (database and files) but it's still the same.

Looks like what happens when you have a plugin enabled but not installed. But that should've been taken care of in this release.
