Nightly Build 1.0.5NB9 posted 9 Years, 3 Months ago
Just posted the latest of our Beta builds on http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/fireboard/frs/

[size=5][color=#FF0000][b]Attention[/b][/color][/size]
[color=#FF0000]When I hit the build I had the old versions of the bbcode parser local for testing. NB9 therefore does not include the parser tag fix.
Next build will be clean.[/color]

[quote]This build contains various SQL and other fixes.
Major rework: Forum permissions check re-written. Saves SQL calls and should work all over the board including search.
New little feature: You can embed eBay items just like videos inside a user post.
We have also added an initial version of a Dev Team Credits page. This will be updated for the final release.
New hide and spoiler tag implementation
Legacy config file support - in addition to the database config, an old style config file is created
Message text tooltips for default_ex on recent discussions and categories
Various CSS and template fixes for default_ex - template scales now in various sizes
Spoiler tag added to editor toolbar
Update category stats after bulk move and delete
RSS browser auto detection
More bbcode purification for video and ebay tags e.g. in tooltips
1.0.x SEF problem with page ankers fixed
Fixed slash in signature
fbsession optimizations
broken default_ex tabs in IE and Opera fixed
Re-written autolink detection - 4 regex collapsed into 1
Multiple selections for deleting smilied and ranks enabled (backend)
Fixed parser issue with extra non tag related in text - caused famous doubling of post text
Moved topic - ghost message no longer shown in category view
Team credits page updated
[/quote]
... and so much more. FYI we have now done over 500 builds for 1.0.5

[b]To see a high level list of all changes implemented look here:[/b]
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/fireboard/scmsvn/?action=browse&path=%2Fdevelopment%2F&view=log

You can find the install packages in the \'UnderDevelopment\' folder.

While we don\'t do documentation on the nightly builds here a few tips to get you going:

This latest build does a full install or upgrade of virtually any prior FireBoard release, without manual intervention. No need to run SQL scripts of any sort.

IF you want to preserve the configuration information of a prior install (1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3, 1.0.4) you must first install and run the fbconverter component. See here: http://www.bestofjoomla.com/component/op...38/catid,6/id,53567/
(Not required for test sites upgrading from the prior nightly build)

Once you have run the converter make sure you backup, backup, backup and once again

THIS IS A BETA BUILD - PROCEED WITH CAUTION ON PRODUCTION SITES!

Once you have a good backup, backup, backup simply uninstall the current version of FireBoard on your test server.

The rest is identical for both install and upgrade.

Install the latest com_fireboard package through the joomla component installer. During the install the installer will recognize whether this is a fresh install or and upgrade and will perform the required tasks including all SQL upgrades to the database.

We have added a lot more error checking to the database portion of FireBoard to quickly know about failing queries that would have been skipped over in most prior releases and nobody knew about it. So if you get an error message from a database call, we consider that helpful at this point in time, as it tells us what went wrong rather than hiding it from you and us. Just make sure you get us the detailed information of the error message.

There are a few known issues: The hits counters are not displayed correctly for some threads and there are some selection fields missing in the backend. We know they why for both but have not had a chance to fix them.

Overall we have put several hundred hours into 1.0.5 so far. It is not perfect but is already getting much better and more stable than any prior release.

Thanks a lot in your help testing these pre-builds! Please make sure you share all the versions of products/packages you are using when reporting a problem. Most issues are related to specific versions and are virtually impossible to find without that.

ok i know this may be pedantic but if the boj forum is the latest nb9 build, is it possible to have some spacing between the video tag and the tags above (eg B, i, u, Quote etc)

Also i know this issue has been around a while and not sure if it has been fixed but the [ img] and [file] buttons to attach a file or image are still showing the tag instead of the word and it is being cutoff.

hope you know what i mean.

cheers

I just want to report that the problem i had with the icons in back-end, is no more. With NB9 it is working as it should.

BTW - BOJ is NOT on the latest build as of now. I will check with the team when they plan to move up.

No bug but an feature-request (I know, it\'s not really the right time to ask for new features ;)):
It would be nice if the new hide-tag could contain an option to specify which group should be able to read it. Something like [noparse][hide allow=\"Editor\"]hidden text[/hide][/noparse]. In this case the hidden text is only readably for editors and up (always including backend-users).

I think about implementing it by myself and submit a patch. But what do you think? Is this realizable(especially translatable groupnames)/useful/wanted? If I submit a patch, what\'s the deadline for including it into the release?

Re:Nightly Build 1.0.5NB9 posted 9 Years, 3 Months ago
In my modified 1.0.4 I added shortening of links. This concerns tagged links like [i][noparse][url]http://www.someverylongurl.com[/url][/noparse][/i] as well as inline-links like [i][noparse]http://www.someverylongurl.com[/noparse][/i]. In tagged links like [i][noparse][url=http://someurl.com]someverylongdescription[/url][/noparse][/i] the between-text isn\'t shortened.

If you would like to include this, I attached an svn-patch based on revision 930 of file interpreter.fireboard.inc.php.

In the patch the maximum unshortened length is 65 characters. The link is shortened to the first thirty characters followed by \"...\" followed by the last thirty characters. The maximum length and the substitute can easily been changed. [file name=shortlinks.txt size=2354]http://fireboard.bestofjoomla.com/images/fbfiles/files/shortlinks.txt[/file]

We are thinking a like.

Just built the same functionality, only a bit shorter B)

1 line regex...

[code]$text = preg_replace(\'/<a href=([^>]+)>([^<]{40})[^<]{5,}([^<]{20})<\\/a>/\', \'<a href=$1>$2 ... $3</a>\', $text);[/code]

It will be in the next build....

OMG! What\'s this??? *lol*
I understand absolutely nothing of this expression! *rofl*

But possibly I have another patch for you...
I modified the handling of quotes to something similar to other forums. You can simply write [noparse][quote=fxstein]Quoted text[/quote][/noparse] and the full quote-HTML is generated out of this tag. No more working around with [noparse][b]fxstein wrote:[/b][quote]Quoted text[/quote][/noparse].
The short version[noparse][quote]quoted text[/quote][/noparse] will be expand to something like
[b]Quote:[/b]
[quote]quoted text[/quote]
.
The patch of interpreter.fireboard.inc.php, rev 930 (original! Not including the short-links) is attached.
Admittedly there are some additional changes nessesary:
- In the editor the button \'quote\' has to be changed so it don\'t produce the [noparse][b]...[/b][/noparse]
- two additional css-classes are used: fb_quotesource (format of \"fxstein wrote:\" ) and fb_quotetext (format of \"quoted text\" ).

EDIT: You should allow uploading of *.patch ;) [file name=namedquote.txt size=1332]http://fireboard.bestofjoomla.com/images/fbfiles/files/namedquote.txt[/file]

EDIT2: Ok... it took me some time of staring at this expression, but finally I think I\'m understanding. ;)
