Nightly Build 1.0.5NB8 posted 9 Years, 3 Months ago
Just posted the latest of our Alpha builds on http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/fireboard/frs/
This build contains various SQL and other fixes.
Major rework: Forum permissions check re-written. Saves SQL calls and should work all over the board including search.
New little feature: You can embed eBay items just like videos inside a user post.
We have also added an initial version of a Dev Team Credits page. This will be updated for the final release.
New hide and spoiler tag implementation
Legacy config file support - in addition to the database config, an old style config file is created
Message text tooltips for default_ex on recent discussions and categories
Various CSS and template fixes for default_ex - template scales now in various sizes
To see a high level list of all changes implemented look here:
http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/fireboard/scmsvn/?action=browse&path=%2Fdevelopment%2F&view=log

You can find the install packages in the \'UnderDevelopment\' folder.

While we don\'t do documentation on the nightly builds here a few tips to get you going:

This latest build does a full install or upgrade of virtually any prior FireBoard release, without manual intervention. No need to run SQL scripts of any sort.

IF you want to preserve the configuration information of a prior install (1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.3, 1.0.4) you must first install and run the fbconverter component. See here: http://www.bestofjoomla.com/component/op...38/catid,6/id,53567/
(Not required for test sites upgrading from the prior nightly build)

Once you have run the converter make sure you backup, backup, backup and once again

THESE ALPHA BUILDS ARE NOT FOR PRODUCTION SITES!

Once you have a good backup, backup, backup simply uninstall the current version of FireBoard on your test server.

The rest is identical for both install and upgrade.

Install the latest com_fireboard package through the joomla component installer. During the install the installer will recognize whether this is a fresh install or and upgrade and will perform the required tasks including all SQL upgrades to the database.

We have added a lot more error checking to the database portion of FireBoard to quickly know about failing queries that would have been skipped over in most prior releases and nobody knew about it. So if you get an error message from a database call, we consider that helpful at this point in time, as it tells us what went wrong rather than hiding it from you and us. Just make sure you get us the detailed information of the error message.

There are a few known issues: The hits counters are not displayed correctly for some threads and there are some selection fields missing in the backend. We know they why for both but have not had a chance to fix them.

Overall we have put several hundred hours into 1.0.5 so far. It is not perfect but is already getting much better and more stable than any prior release.

Thanks a lot in your help testing these pre-builds! Please make sure you share all the versions of products/packages you are using when reporting a problem. Most issues are related to specific versions and are virtually impossible to find without that.

1.0.5NB8 is hopefully the last nightly build before RC1 this week. We need some help with documentation (see separate thread)

You can see NB8 running live as a final test: www.starVmax.com

Noticed \'a bug?\' on the NB7 thread, here in BoJ (I guess this does not work on NBs... but worth checking I suppose)

Someone changed the title of his/her message to \'problems upgrading...\' (I guess) and since then I was getting the mails about new posts twice for the same thread, one for the original title, and another one for the new tittle, both pointing to same thread.

gonna try new NB right now

There are still a few problems which were reported but are not fixed, I guess it\'s understandable.

I\'m using joomla 1.5.3 and sh404sef extension, nb6alpha version was upgraded tot the latest version

1. Move a topic from a category to another category then click the latest moved post ( for example: MOVED: Sample2), you will see that it\'s not working ok. (see screenshot)
2. No user appear after you move a topic in the latest post column (by | 07/23/2008 04:48..see screenshot)
3. If you select a category and click \"go\" a a 404 error appears (see screenshot)
4. In opera \"Threaded view\" button image does not appear
5. Although topic is moved, it is still counted in the old category (see screenshot)
6. In user profile, after a topic is moved, it appears twice pointing to the same topic (see second screenshot). For me it\'s confusing why it appears twice

I dont get Multithumb for Joomla 1.5 working with the nightly build. hack post.php and view.php like a other post said but this will give strange errors.

fxstein, can you modify this files to work with multithumb before release?

the nb7 is much more stable then the nb\'s before, thx!

I installed a fresh copy of NB8 on a J1.5.3 Hyperion Rocket Theme demo install. Everything looked good with the install till I tried to make a post. The layout of the page appears to have been corrupted by an issue with the smiley list:

It doesn\'t seem to mater which fireboard theme I use. Also, when I change the theme to the standard rhuk_milkyway template, I still get the same thing.
