Forum Search Function doesn\'t work

Forum Search Function doesn\'t work 10 Years, 2 Months ago
Actually it is not a new problem with FB, I found several people in this forum suffering from the same problem with FB 1.0.1

The thing is as followed:

1.Try to find a word which is definitly in one of the threads.
2.Using the top-right Search Forum box will NOT return any results.
3.Using the Joomla! Build-in Search function (having the Fireboard search bot installed) DOES return the expected result from the forum.

Can anybody give some suggestion on this?

BTW: My forum is in Chinese, but whether I search for Chinese or English word, NO result returns at all.

I\'ve got exactly the same problem. The search function works correctly when the website is on my local testing server, but the search finds no results on the live server. I had the same issue while running Joomlaboard.

I\'m running Joomla 1.13 and Fireboard 1.03

My settings on the live server (search produces NO results) are:

Database Version: 3.23.49
PHP Version: 4.3.11
Apache/1.3.26 (Unix)
Joomla! Register Globals Emulation: ON
Register Globals: ON
Magic Quotes: ON
Safe Mode: ON
File Uploads: ON
Session auto start: OFF
Session save path: /tmp
Short Open Tags: ON
Output Buffering: OFF
Open basedir: none
Display Errors: ON
XML enabled: Yes
Zlib enabled: Yes
Disabled Functions: none

My settings on the test server (where search WORKS) are:

Database Version: 4.0.21-nt-log
PHP Version: 5.0.2
Web Server: Apache/1.3.31 (Win32) PHP/5.0.2
WebServer to PHP interface: apache
Relevant PHP Settings: Joomla! Register Globals Emulation: ON
Register Globals: OFF
Magic Quotes: ON
Safe Mode: OFF
File Uploads: ON
Session auto start: OFF
Session save path: d:/wamp/tmp
Short Open Tags: ON
Output Buffering: OFF
Open basedir: none
Display Errors: ON
XML enabled: Yes
Zlib enabled: Yes
Disabled Functions: none

My live server is running older versions of PHP, MySQL and Apache than the test server, so I wonder if that\'s causing the search to fail.

Perhaps other people having the same problem could post their system info from the Joomla backend so we can find a common link.

Any ideas as to what\'s causing this?

Mine setting is as followed:

Apache v2.2.3 (Win32)
PHP v5.2.0 (Win32)
Zend Optimizer v3.2.0 (Win32)
MySQL v5.0.22(Win32)
magic quotes:OFF`
Register Globals Emuluation:ON`.

For other settings, I don\'t know where to find.

You can find your other settings in the Administrator backend of Joomla. On the Administrator menu bar at the top, select:

System > System Info

Your live server (where search fails) is running later versions of PHP, MySQL and Apache than my test server (where the search works,) so I don\'t think PHP/MySQL/Apache versions are the issue.

I\'ve tried changing settings for register globals and safe mode, which differ between my test and live server, but that doesn\'t make any difference either.

Maybe there will be a clue if you compare the configuration of our live servers as detailed in Joomla\'s System Info section.

In the meantime, I\'ll keep looking to try and work out why search works on my test server but not the live server.
