Once more for the dummies ...

I have no idea how to go about converting my phpBB board into Fireboard. Can someone lead me to a manual or a thread, please?

Mel,
This post offers a converter for phpBB: http://www.bestofjoomla.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,38/func,view/id,160/catid,6/limit,12/limitstart,12/#3147

The one major requirement is that the data for phpBB must be in the same database as your Joomla data.

If you require a more detailed answer, let me know or post in the thread I linked to above.

OK, thank you.
I will have a look and see how I go ...

Also, as I have only just installed Joomla, how do I get the forum to take up a whole page just like this forum, rather than cooped up within the links and frames on the front page.

your template should have full width, meaning no module position on the left and right sides.
