TOPIC: How to Help?

How to Help? 8 Years, 9 Months ago
Hi! I would like to work with testing and bug fixing FB2.0.

I run XAMPP with PHP5 and Joomla 1.5.8 locally, and I have experience with coding Joomla 1.5 components. I wrote a fairly complex script for archiving fiction, which can be viewed at dokuga.com/fanfiction. The component uses router.php, runs natively, and follows MVC architecture.

Not to be rude but get in line. Many have offered to \"help\" with 2.0 that have seemed to come out of nowhere. No history on the forums. Even less with actually helping out on the forums. I would say that you would have to prove you are capable by helping out with bugfixing the current version and answering some questions on the forum. Stick around a while. Help is also needed with documentation as well.

Not to be rude, but I don\'t really care about the opinion of someone who has run up a post count with one-sentence replies and then points to post count like it\'s a valuable contribution.

I apologize for rudely volunteering my time, and for the fact that my only qualification for working on a giant Joomla 1.5! native component is coding a giant Joomla 1.5! native component (logic, anyone?). I\'m sure that I would be more qualified if I spent so much time on the forums being a jerk.

If my help isn\'t needed/wanted, that\'s fine. I offered because I just got done with a huge project, and I do use Fireboard and would like to see FB2.0 come out.

No one pointed to a post count. Just you. Also you are the only one name calling. I notice you didn\'t speak to the notion of helping bug fix this version and getting it to a stable release. You come from out of no where and wanted to know how you can help on 2.0. Help fix 1.5 and help out members of the forum. If you\'re really serious about helping you can start there. If not don\'t count on getting even a glimpse of 2.0 before anyone else does.

No one has seen 2.0 alpha, me included. I need to get hands on FB2 because of I need to assure that it will be fast enough to run a huge forum. But I have no hurry, I can wait.

I have already contributed 3 changesets which contain over 100 fixes to make FB valid XHTML together with some optimizations, which will speed up the forum.

Developers have chosen not to show the code to anyone and I can respect it -- for now. There is still lots of work to be done with 1.0.x and getting a stable version with those fixes and improvements is more important to me now than getting 2.0 out one month earlier. I also believe that fixes in templates and SQL optimizations will be portable to FB2.0, so they will help to get it ready earlier.

Can\'t we all just get along?

I am going to talk to fxstein and see if we can\'t do a port of Fireboard at JoomlaCode where people can submit bugs and what not. This way people can help and see the progress.. this will help avoid post like these and then everyone can pitch in.
