Re:FireBoard 2.0 9 Years ago
Why would there be one? It hasn\'t even been released.

Re:FireBoard 2.0 9 Years ago
BUT - there has been a 17+ site long discussion about the 2.0 release (the one with the videos in the first post)...

Where is this one gone?? Can\'t find it - 1-2 days ago it was ALWAYS at the top 10 (last answered) discussions of the forum - and now i can\'t find it in the discussion for the last 7 days nor by searching...

I was just stopping by to see how far the developement for Fireboard 2.0 has proceeded (native for J1.5) but I did not find the previous discussion anymore - just this one newly opened.
What happened? Do you guys still work on a native version for Joomla 1.5?
I was asking because FB did also disappear from Joomla Extention directory completely.... Why???

Greetings,
Thomas

i think that is because of the Spread Fireboard button at the top here, that violates the extensions directory rules.

Omg no updates about FB 2.0 and now the discussion is gone. Fireboard gets removed from JED. I think the guys may be right. BoJ and Fireboard is dead? :(

Re:FireBoard 2.0 9 Years ago
It appears we were censored.

Unbelievable. I would expect this from a government regime but not an open community. I spent considerable time and effort posting in that thread, not to be critical but to address a serious issue about communication and collaboration in the \"community\" in the hope it would help improve things.

Instead it seems the entire thread was trashed.

This very disappointing. Instead of acknowledging the problem and rallying developers and the forum community together, they didn\'t like what they heard and chose to \"silence\" us. I suppose if they could have they would have simply shot us in the middle of the square instead?

This does not build community. It only serves to alienate members more.

Well, I guess this was their answer. So much for community. I guess it really is \"we\" and \"they\" and they want it to stay that way. I guess they really don\'t want us to meddle in their project.

Fireboard has really held my own forum community back due to its poor performance on my site. The members of my site have been complaining about it for months and have been requesting me to switch to something else. Participation in my forums has dropped drastically due to the bugs and performance issues.

I was planning to just try and stick it out until the release of Fireboard 2.0 and I was defending this decision in discussions with the members of my site because I believed in the project. It is now clear I made a very poor choice installing and supporting Fireboard on my site and I should have just listened to my members.

I spent a lot of time and effort writing numerous posts in the Fireboard forums during the last year on this one topic of communication and getting the community \"involved\" by keeping it in the loop. Removing or deleting the thread was a slap in the face and very disrespectful to the very users who could help propel Fireboard to the top of the heap of Joomla! components - the Fireboard fan base.

Well, I\'m done. It is clear there is no real community here or the people who are doing this have no interest in building one. First it is removed from the JED, now this. If there really is a Fireboard 2.0, you can have it. Until the attitude from the Fireboard team changes, Fireboard will receive no more consideration from me and no further endorsement.

Hey! At least the Template section and Best of Sites gets updated regularly! News and Resources are more resources than news.

This isn\'t the first time negative post that has mysteriously vanished.

I have been using FireBoard on some sites as well as other forum extensions on others. With no support, no native version and Joomla 1.0.XX at end of life you would not be very wise in waiting for 2.0. I will be migrating to somethng like SMF and maybe even Agora if they get their rewrite completed. Even if 2.0 comes out tomorrow you\'ll get limited support for a short time and then it will dry up again.

Satisfy the need of your members first and foremost and your forums will do well. Make them unhappy and you too will be unhappy. Don\'t go down with the Titanic.

I agree.

I initially resisted recommendations from my members to move to another forum because I believed in the FireBoard project but I just reversed that decision. I posted the incident on my blog and plan to move to SMF as soon as I can.
